Timeline for Prom!
4 months before.
- Shop for your dress. Gowns sometimes need to be ordered and other times they are sold off the rack. Either way stores keep track of which dresses go to which schools and you want your first pick!
- Figure out who you might be taking to prom. Whether you are going with a friend, a boyfriend or a large group of friends, it is time to start gathering that information. Start planning who you'll be splitting costs with for transportation, tickets, etc.
- Book your hair & nail appointment. Especially if you want to go with another friend. You will want to make sure you get your appointment booked since there are so many proms in the area! Please check out our vendor page for the best hair and nail places!
- If you are interested in renting a limo or trolley, make your reservations. Prom is also the start of wedding season, you will want to make these reservations early.
2 months before.
- As your dress is arriving or getting altered, bring a piece of fabric to the Tux shop and start exploring colors. If you cannot find the exact color, don't worry, go with a complementary color and tie it together with the flowers. Neutrals are always timeless too!
- Visit a flower shop with your swatch. Whether you go with your date or you have him do it. Now is the time to get your order in!
- Start getting your accessories together. You will want great jewelry to go with your gown, killer shoes and possibly a garter if it is common at your school.
1 month before.
- Buy those prom tickets!
- Think of what you will be doing for make up, do you want to get it professionally done or will you be doing the make up yourself. Practice a few times prior to the day of.
- Get to know people in your group if they don't go to your school, everyone loves a great hostess!
2 weeks before.
- Go to your final fitting for your prom dress if you haven't already.
- Call and confirm your transportation arrangements.
- Send out a group text to confirm the details.
1 week before.
- Confirm your hair and nail appointment.
- Spray tan if you'd like.
- Take your dress out of its garment bag to get rid of any wrinkles!
1 day before.
- Pack your purse; mascara, lipgloss, extra bobby pins, safety pin, breath mints, phone, ID/School ID and a little extra cash.
- Set out your accessories, make sure you aren't missing any key pieces.
- Give your face a heathy scrub the night before for a fresh face in the morning.
Day of.
- Have a great breakfast, grab a coffee and off to Hair.
- Meet up with some girl friends, get dressed and work on make up.
- Off to pictures, remember to relax your cheeks and smile.
